THE NEW TRANSLATION OF THE ORDER OF THE MASS: The new translation of the Mass will be in use from Saturday, 3rd & Sunday 4th September – NOT the 11th, which was printed in error in a circular we have received. Because of the [many] changes to the text, on that weekend there will be only two Masses to enhance our celebration and experience of the Mass. The first Mass will be on Saturday, 3rd September in HOLBEACH at 6.30pm. Sunday Mass will be celebrated in SPALDING at 10.30am – this will be for one Sunday only.
JOINT CHOIR: We need your help to establish a ‘Joint Parish Choir’ to learn the music and the responses to the new translation of the Mass – so calling both Spalding and Holbeach parishioners, of all ages – if you would help lead the singing and the responses to the new rite, we are asking you to sign up today!
REHEARSING THE NEW ORDER OF MASS: You will see from the August Diary Dates that we have set some dates to practice the new translation of the Mass: 11th, 18th, 21st, 27th August; 1st & 2nd September. There will be separate meetings for Lectors (Readers), Eucharistic Ministers and Altar Servers. These will be announced shortly. Our first rehearsal in Spalding is this Thursday, 11th August at 7.30pm.
DENNIS BRADY: Bishop Malcolm will celebrate a ‘CANDIDACY MASS’ in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire on Wednesday, 28th September. Our Diocesan Students for the Permanent Diaconite: John, Martyn & Dennis will be formally enrolled has ‘Candidates’ for Ordination as permanent deacons within the Church. All three men are just completing the second year of study, during this Mass the Bishop will declare that they are suitable candidates for ordination. Unfortunately, Fr. Jim will miss the occasion as he will be in Rome; however, we hope that Fr. Paul will accompany Dennis – if there is enough interest, we will consider arranging transport to Earl Shilton for the celebration, more details next week. In the meantime, please do keep all three men in your prayers at this time.
THE ELIZABETH MINISTRY: On Wednesday, 17th August, they are organising (along with some members of our UCM) A Family Day Out from 11.00am to 2.00pm for a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’. Anyone wishing to join them is invited to sign the list at the back of church.
Your help is needed, The Elizabeth Ministry has been contacted to help a young mother in need. We are looking for good-as-new clothing suitable for a one year old boy. If you can help, please contact the Parish Office as soon as possible – thank you.
